After their very well-received performance of Xenakis at the Southbank centre last month, which was praised by Bachtrack as “an experience of overwhelming proportions that will leave an indelible mark of pure joy on the sizeable crowd which sat enraptured in the Queen Elizabeth Hall”, the Colin Currie Group embark on a series of concerts in the US, in celebration of Steve Reich.

The Colin Currie Group enticed Queen Elizabeth Hall at the Southbank centre earlier this month with their performance of works by Xenakis alongside the JACK Quartet, which was met with praise by the press. The musicians garnered several fine reviews from various sources including Bachtrack, who claimed:

Austrian premiere of Bruno Mantovani’s Allegro barbaro with the Vienna Tonkünstler Orchestra
After a successful world premiere of Bruno Mantovani’s Allegro barbaro at the Monte Carlo Spring Festival followed by a performance in Paris at the Maison de la Radio in April, this autumn, Colin performs the Austrian premiere of the same work with the Tonkünstler Orchestra in Vienna (Musikverein) and Grafenegg (Auditorium).
BBC Proms Concert with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra
Colin makes his concerto return to the BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall on Friday 29th July with the European Premiere of Nicole Lizée’s riveting concerto ‘Blurr is the Colour of My True Love’s Eyes’. The work was written for Colin and premiered in Canada last month with the NAC Orchestra. On this occasion, he rejoins the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Alpesh Chauhan.
Curation of the Grafenegg Music Academy with Håkan Hardenberger
Colin is in residence in Grafenegg, Austria, for two weeks at the Grafenegg Academy which is a programme of events for young professional musicians co-curated by himself and duo partner Håkan Hardenberger. Helen Grime will be composer-in-focus and Colin will not only perform her ‘Percussion Concerto’ but also conduct ‘Near Midnight’ with the Academy Symphony Orchestra.
