Colin Currie releases the third recording on his critically acclaimed label on 12 April.
Colin Currie & Steve Reich Live at Fondation Louis Vuitton celebrates the percussionist’s artistic relationship with the American cultural icon Steve Reich. Recorded live at Fondation Louis Vuitton, Paris, 2 & 3 December 2017, the album was programmed and performed at the composer’s request. Steve Reich has heaped praise on Colin, calling him ‘the world’s greatest percussionist’.
For this recording, Colin conducts and performs with the Colin Currie Group and their long-standing collaborators Synergy Vocals. The works featured on the recording are: Proverb, Mallet Quartet, Pulse, Music for Pieces of Wood and Steve Reich himself joined Colin to perform Clapping Music.
The album was featured on BBC Radio 3’s Late Junction on 3 April and Colin was interviewed for Gramophone magazine’s podcast about the new release.
