Colin Currie Quartet play at London’s Kings Place

Colin kicks off the new year with a return to Kings Place in London on 20th January for a concert with the Colin Currie Quartet. The programme consists of ‘multiple sound groups’ of early Steve Reich works, including his composition, Drumming. Other compositions include Connor Shafran’s Continental Divide, and John Luther Adams’ Qilyuan with which the group experiment using four bass drums in all four corners of the hall. Also featured in the concert is Rolf Wallin’s Twine, which incorporates two wooden keyboards, the highly-acclaimed So Called Laws of Nature by David Lang for which each player uses an identical sonic tool kit, and a return to Julia Wolfe’s thrilling composition for four drum kits, Dark Full Ride, which was first performed by the quartet at the RWCMD last year. This event is the opening concert in their ‘Sound Unwrapped’ series which explores spatial dimensions in live performance and the creativity of sound artists, in partnership with d&b audiotechnik.
