This month, Colin makes a return to Sweden and Spain to perform one of his favourite works, Joey Roukens’ Percussion Concerto. Commissioned specially for Colin by the De Doelen Concert Hall in Rotterdam, he has performed this wonderful piece several times since its premier in 2011. The percussionist describes the work as “immensely colourful, using a large percussion palette of several set-ups and keyboard instruments, all supported by the composer’s trademark kaleidoscopic orchestration.” The first performance is entitled ‘Storslaget’ and takes place in Dalecarlia in Sweden on 12th May, marking Colin’s debut with the Dalasinfoniettan. Colin then reprises the work in Valladolid, Spain, with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Castilla y León on 19th and 20th May. Rising star and maestra Chloé van Soeterstède conducts.
